The 40B Process and Belmont

The Uplands Alternative Group considers the Uplands an inappropriate location for any development.

Fact Sheet about 40b

40b manual

Topics for the next ZBA meeting on May 31st (7:30 PM in the Town Hall Annex) will be environment and wastewater. Inform yourself about the topic, show up, and ask your questions. Get your concerns out in the public eye and insist on detailed answers. Even if another person asks the same question you meant to ask, clarify the answer. The developer's consultants may try to minimize the problems, discount your concerns. Don't let them! Remember, there's a lot to lose here and much to be gained, including protection of this natural site and keeping taxes within a normal range.

Belmont needs you to participate in the 40B process! We encourage you to express your concerns to the ZBA by attending the meetings and writing to the ZBA as informed citizens. On this website, we provide you with letters from many town departments and individuals. You can put together your own letter using parts of any of them. If you need help putting together a letter, contact us. We are master letter writers, even if we say so ourselves.

Over and over, we have heard the message that, if we can decide together what we want as a town, then we will have a far greater ability to affect the development outcome - whether through direct negotiation with the developer or through the 40B process.
